Stroke & Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Recovery Program
ETHOS Bertolina offers a comprehensive 12-week recovery program for individuals living with the lasting effects of Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), based on the pioneering protocols developed by Dr. Shai Efrati and advances in neurorehabilitation science.
The program is centered on intensive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), delivered five days per week in 120-minute sessions. Scientific research has demonstrated that HBOT can stimulate neuroplasticity, promote the formation of new blood vessels, improve oxygen delivery to metabolically impaired brain tissue, enhance mitochondrial function, and reduce chronic neuroinflammation. These mechanisms may help reactivate dormant neurons and support recovery even years after the original injury.
To maximize neurological rehabilitation, HBOT is combined with Hyperoxic-Hypoxic Paradox (HHP) and a scientific cognitive stimulation device designed to challenge and strengthen cognitive networks during periods of enhanced brain plasticity.
In the second phase, Transcranial Photobiomodulation is introduced. By delivering specific wavelengths of light to targeted brain regions, this therapy aims to support cellular energy production, improve neural connectivity, and further enhance cognitive and neurological recovery.
The program also incorporates the Hippocrates “Food as Medicine” philosophy, providing guidance on anti-inflammatory nutrition, metabolic health, sleep optimization, and lifestyle practices that support long-term brain health.
Participants commonly report improvements in cognitive function, memory, attention, speech, balance, coordination, mobility, emotional wellbeing, and overall independence. Many also experience increased energy, improved confidence, and a better quality of life.
The program includes accommodation with breakfast at ETHOS Bertolina. Lunch and dinner are not included, allowing guests to enjoy the many nearby restaurants while following personalized nutritional recommendations.
Designed as a science-based, multidisciplinary recovery experience, the program aims to help individuals maximize neurological recovery and regain function, independence, and quality of life.
